Nebraska vs. Ohio State

Nebraska got a 3-1 win over Ohio State this weekend, they are now 2-0 for The Big Ten Conference. In the first set it was close throughout. It was a battle till the end and Nebraska took the set 25-23. The second was also close. Ohio won 25-23, tying the match at one set a piece. Nebraska on the the third set came out and got an early lead 10-3. They took that set with a score of 25-11, making it to 2 games to 1. In the fourth set in started off point for point, and eventually jumped to a lead at 15-9. Nebraska took the set 25-16, and took the match 3-1. Lauren Cook led the Huskers with14 digs and 41 assists.

The Huskers played an extremely well game. They were also at home, so they knew their gym very well. It's so much easier playing in your home gym, because you know the surroundings. They were very on top of their game. In the first and second set they could have played a little better, they came out very slow. Finally in the third and fourth set they came out and played their game. It was a lot better game in the third and fourth.

Huskers vs. Iowa State

The Huskers swept right through Iowa State (25-23, 25-15, 25-18). Gina Mancuso led the Huskers with 14 kills. In the first set Nebraska fell behind to Iowa 10-6. Nebraska tied the game at 14 with a kill by Broekhuis. They tied again at 20, and another kill from Broekhuis put the Huskers ahead. They won 25-23. In the second set Nebraska took an early lead 7-3. They eventually stretched the lead to 10-4. A kill by Simpson made it 19-11. On a service ace Mancuso, Nebraska took the set 25-15. the Huskers energy carried over into the third game where they went up 5-3 on kill by Thramer. Iowa fought back and tied the game up, and a kill by Werth put Nebraska up 10-9. Mancuso had another ace to put Nebraska ahead 11-9. The match got tied 16-16, but the Huskers came out and kicked it into gear. An error by Iowa gave Nebraska a 21-16 lead. Nebraska took the set 25-18.

The Huskers played a very good game, they didn't let much past them. In the first game they could have came out a little stronger. When they get ahead they need to stay ahead they can't let down and let the other team score and let the other team catch up to them. Overall it was a very good game. I was really impressed on how they played. They are very well at putting the ball down.

Nebraska vs. Weber State

Nebraska No.11 just rolled right on by Weber State (25-15, 25-7, 25-16). Gina Mancuso led the way for the Huskers with 15 kills on 26 attempts. In the first set Weber State came out and took an early 3-1 lead. The Huskers came out and tied it up 11-11. Thanks to an attack error by Weber, the Huskers took a 15-12 lead. Again, an attack error from Weber put Nebraska up 20-14. Weber only scored one more point and ended the game 25-15. In the second set the Huskers came out ahead 11-0. The Huskers got two huge kills by Mancuso and a ace by Werth, and the Huskers took the set 25-7. In the third set the Huskers went up to 9-4. A kill by Mancuso put the Huskers up 14-7, before Thramer made it 16-8 with a kill of her own. The Huskers held at 16, eventually winning 25-16.

I think they had a really good game. They came out and just dominated in the game. I was really impressed how well they did. The Huskers were just on a roll and didn't let it end. Mancuso was on a hitting roll that night. Weber State just couldn't stop them, or even get a hand on them. I wish they would have put some of the girls in that never really played. I think it would have been kind of sweet, since they never get to play and Nebraska was just dominating. They could have put them in, in the second game since they won 25-7.

Huskers vs. Colorado State

On Friday night the Huskers ranked No. 3 fell to Colorado State ranked No. 15 (25-12, 25-11, 16-25, 20-25, 9-15). Gina Mancuso lead the Huskers with 24 kills and 41 attempts with a hitting percentage of 0.341. In the first set the Huskers came out and took an early lead, Colorado just couldn't get anything back and Huskers took the game 25-12. Nebraska jumped out to a 7-0 lead in the second set, eventually stretching it to 19-5 and taking the set, 25-11. Colorado State came out in the third set, after the break, and took the game 16-25. In the fourth set the Huskers and Rams fought point for point. Colorado State got it to 16-12. Nebraska had to call a timeout. After the timeout Nebraska came back to 17-16. Then fell 25-20 after fight for each point. In the fifth set Huskers and Rams battle for each point, but Rams took a late lead at 12-8. The Huskers couldn't quite get it done and lost 9-15.

I think that the Huskers could have won that in three. They can't get down in between games. It is hard to watch them win big in the first two and then lose in the next three. They could have had a better serve recieve. It was hard for them to get anything up, or even get a hand on a ball, in the third match for sure. They did a little better job in the fourth, but just could not get it done. If they just could have held it together in the fourth game they could have beat Colorado State.
